Google Talk is a suite of protocols from Google that uses HTTP, HTTPS, and XMPP (Jabber) protocol to achieve upstream and downstream connectivity for applications within the Google Cloud Platform. It allows App developers to receive PUSH Notifications from servers via Google Cloud.

Jump Desktop (ZenDesk) is an easy to use client/server program. It uses Google for authentication (talk.google.com). Blocking Jump Desktop will also affect access to https://talk.google.com and any services that rely on Google Authentication Services for their user authentication. The client can use either RDP or VNC protocols.

This SonicWALL signature identifies legitimate Jump Desktop HTTPS connections to talk.google.com--used as the authentication mechanism for Jump Desktop.
