Secure socket tunneling protocol (SSTP) improved on many weaknesses present in VPN technology using Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) or Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP). It can enable users to bypass firewalls and web proxies without having to face port blocking. In other words, you can call SSTP as an enhanced VPN tunnel to send PPP or L2TP traffic through an SSL 3.0 channel.
